Around the turn of the century 1900 there were many men who walked through the Parisian states with advertising boards alone or in groups.
This Martin of course advertised the toys and games and on his board we can also read the date October 9 -1897, the year that the triangle mark made its entrance as a mark for all French toy manufacturers.
With this mark you were assured that the product was manufactured in France.

His official name is “L’Homme Sandwich” but on a picture from the French magazine Soleil du dimanche from 1905, I found in an article specifically about the Martin toys, with another name: L’Homme Réclame.
